Welcome to SeaHike. By creating an account or using the SeaHike application ("the Service"), you agree to these Terms of Service ("Terms"). Please read them carefully.

1. Service Description

SeaHike is a mobile application that connects boat captains with crew members for sailing adventures. The Service provides a platform for users to discover nearby sailors, communicate, and coordinate trips. SeaHike does not operate boats, provide sailing instruction, or guarantee the safety of any voyage.

2. Account Registration

• You must be at least 16 years old to use SeaHike.
• You must provide accurate information during registration.
• You are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure.
• You may register as a Captain (boat owner/operator) or Crew (seeking to join a voyage).

3. User Obligations

By using SeaHike, you agree to:

• Provide truthful information about yourself, your experience, and your vessel (if applicable).
• Respect other users and communicate courteously.
• Not use the Service for any illegal purpose.
• Not harass, threaten, or abuse other users.
• Not create multiple accounts or impersonate others.
• Comply with all applicable maritime laws and regulations.

4. Content Policy

You retain ownership of content you create (profile information, messages, reviews). By posting content, you grant SeaHike a limited license to display it within the Service. You must not post content that is illegal, defamatory, discriminatory, or harmful.

5. Reviews and Ratings

Reviews should be honest and based on actual sailing experiences. SeaHike may remove reviews that violate our content policy. Reviews are anonymized (not deleted) if the reviewer deletes their account.

6. Safety and Responsibility

SeaHike is a connection platform only. Users are solely responsible for:

• Verifying the seaworthiness of any vessel.
• Ensuring proper safety equipment and procedures.
• Complying with local maritime regulations and licensing requirements.
• Assessing weather conditions and risks before sailing.
• Having appropriate insurance coverage.

7. Privacy and Data

Your use of SeaHike is also governed by our Privacy Policy. We collect and process your data as described in that policy, including your location, profile information, and messages.

8. Account Termination

You may delete your account at any time from Account Settings. All your personal data will be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. SeaHike may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.

9. Limitation of Liability

SeaHike is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind. To the fullest extent permitted by law:

• SeaHike is not liable for any damages arising from the use of the Service.
• SeaHike is not responsible for the actions, behavior, or safety of any user.
• SeaHike is not liable for any incidents occurring during sailing activities arranged through the platform.

10. Modifications

We may update these Terms from time to time. We will notify you of material changes through the app or by email. Continued use of the Service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated Terms.

11. Governing Law

These Terms are governed by the laws of France and the European Union. Any disputes shall be resolved in the courts of France.
